The 4:3 aspect ratio, also known as Standard Definition (SD), was very popular during the early days of movie cameras. In the 1940s, movies filmed on 35 mm film could be viewed on TVs with this ratio. However, its popularity has decreased since the 21st century as modern high-definition TV sets, broadcast cameras, and computer monitors started to favor the 16:9 aspect ratio.
